SEC Charges Convicted Criminal Who Conducted Fraudulent ICO Using A Fake Identity

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged convicted criminal Boaz Manor, his business associate, and two businesses, CG Blockchain Inc. and BCT Inc. SEZC, with raising over $30 million from hundreds of investors in a fraudulent initial coin offering (ICO).

FINRA Promotes Jessica Hopper To Head Of Enforcement

FINRA announced today that it has promoted Jessica Hopper to Executive Vice President and Head of Enforcement. Hopper has been Acting Head of Enforcement since Susan Schroeder announced her departure in September 2019. Hopper will report directly to CEO Robert Cook.

Monetary Authority Of Singapore Alerts Financial Institutions To Vulnerability In Microsoft Windows Operating System

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) had issued an advisory on 15 January to alert financial institutions in Singapore of critical vulnerabilities in the Microsoft Windows Operating System. These vulnerabilities could allow malicious files or applications to bypass detection from security applications and gain control of the computer systems. MAS had informed financial institutions using the affected Windows Operating Systems to take immediate action to install the relevant patches. Financial institutions should also take mitigating measures to prevent the vulnerabilities from being exploited.

ETFGI Reports Assets Invested In ETFs And ETPs Listed In United States Reached A New Record Of US$4.42 Trillion At The End Of 2019

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in United States gained net inflows of US$56.15 billion during December, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$330.24 billion. Assets invested in the US ETFs/ETPs industry have increased by 3.3%, from US$4.28 trillion at the end of November, to $4.42 trillion, and 30.4% during 2019, according to ETFGI's December 2019 US ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service.
