  • The First RMB-Denominated Bond In Kazakhstan Listed On AIX Belt And Road Market

    Astana International Exchange (“AIX”, “Exchange”) is pleased to announce that the first RMB (Chinese Yuan)  Bond, or “Falcon Bond”, of the China Construction Bank Corporation Astana Branch (CCB Astana Branch), has been listed on AIX and the Hong Kong Exchange effective from March 20, 2020. The bond, maturing in March 2022, in the amount of 1 billion CNY (about 63 bn KZT[1]), is denominated in RMB (Chinese Yuan) with an interest rate of 2.95% per annum. The RMB bond is available only for professional investors. The RMB funds raised will be used to support general corporate purposes concerning local infrastructure projects and Belt & Road Initiative projects in Kazakhstan.

    In response to the announcement that the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) expects competent authorities not to prioritise their supervisory actions towards reporting entities in respect to the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR) until July 13, 2020, DTCC’s Val Wotton said:

     “DTCC has been encouraged by the industry’s progress around SFTR preparations to date – evidenced by the testing which is currently underway; however, in light of the current circumstances, we support ESMA’s move to provide market participants with additional time to prepare. We remain committed to assisting our clients in preparing for the new deadline and our Global Trade Repository (GTR) SFTR service will be ready as and when the financial industry is required to go-live.”
