  • Hong Kong Securities And Futures Appeals Tribunal Affirms Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission Decision To Ban Lai Voon Wai For Five Years For IPO Sponsor Failures

    The Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal (SFAT) has affirmed the decision of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to ban Mr Lai Voon Wai, a former responsible officer (RO) of CCB International Capital Limited (CCBIC) and BOCOM International (Asia) Limited (BIAL), from re-entering the industry for five years from 29 September 2020 to 28 September 2025 for failing to discharge his supervisory duties as a sponsor principal in charge of supervising the execution of two listing applications.

    Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia”) announced the appointment of Puan Sharifatu Laila Syed Ali as a Public Interest Director to its Board of Directors line up effective 1 October 2020. A Public Interest Director is appointed by the Minister of Finance pursuant to Section 10(1)(a) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. 

  • Japan Financial Services Agency: Preparation For Permanent Cessation Of LIBOR

    Whereas reforming interest rate benchmarks have been developed in Japan and abroad, the possibility that the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) will be permanently discontinued after the end of 2021 has been increasing. While LIBOR is mainly referenced in derivative contracts such as interest rate swaps, it is also quoted in a significant number of cash products including corporate loans and bonds. Additionally, it is used in wide range of users, including not only financial institutions but also non-financial corporate and institutional investors. In this regard, there is the possibility of disruption to users if LIBOR were ceased without sufficient preparation.

  • Shanghai International Energy Exchange Approves Southland Resources Co., Ltd. To Change Its TSR 20 Futures Factory Code And Product Logo

    Shanghai International Energy Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “INE”) has released circular that approves Southland Resources Co., Ltd. to change its TSR 20 futures factory code and product logo. From the date of this circular, TSR20 produced by the Chumphon Branch of Southland Resources (Chumphon) Co. Ltd with corrected factory code and product logo can be used for standard warrant issuance and physical delivery. TSR20 produced by the Chumphon Branch under the original factory code and product logo cannot be used for standard warrant issuance and physical delivery. Standard warrants that have been issued for Chumphon Branch-produced TSR 20 before the date of this circular could be circulated until expiration.

    Key Points – September Report

    Liquidity eased slightly in September, as the People’s Bank of China maintains an ‘ample’ supply of liquidity to foster the recovery, the latest MNI Liquidity Conditions Index shows.

    The Liquidity Condition Index stood at 75.0 in August, down from the 84.4 recorded in August. The higher the index reading, the tighter liquidity appears to survey participants.
