Vitrtual Meeting Of The International Forum Of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR)

From April to 21, 2021, the 21st meeting of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR) was held in virtual form. The CPAAOB/FSA and other member authorities from 54 jurisdictions attended the meeting.
At the meeting, NAGAOKA Takashi, Deputy Commisoner for International Affairs and Director of the Office of Japanese Delegation for IFIAR, was elected new Vice Chair of the IFIAR for a two-year term. -
HKEX Releases First Quarterly Results For 2021

At the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators’ Plenary Meeting from April 19 to 21, 2021, NAGAOKA Takashi, Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs and Director of the Office of Japanese Delegation for IFIAR, was elected new Vice Chair of the IFIAR for a two-year term.

Today U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen participated in a conference call hosted by Australian Treasurer Josh Frydenberg with finance ministers of the “Five Eyes Countries” including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The ministers reviewed the economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic and each country’s medium-term fiscal approaches to support a strong and sustainable economic recovery. Secretary Yellen emphasized the importance of all countries using all available policy tools to support their domestic economies and therefore the global economy.

The Transition to Risk-free Rates (RFRs) Review analyzes the trading volumes of over-the-counter (OTC) and exchange-traded interest rate derivatives (IRD) that reference selected alternative RFRs, including the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR), the Sterling Overnight Index Average (SONIA), the Swiss Average Rate Overnight, the Tokyo Overnight Average Rate, the Euro Short-Term Rate and the Australian Overnight Index Average.

The New York State Department of Financial Services (“the Department” or “DFS”) today released a report on the Department’s investigation of the New York’s financial services industry’s response to the supply chain attack of the information technology (“IT”) company SolarWinds (“the SolarWinds Attack”). During the SolarWinds Attack, hackers corrupted routine software updates that were downloaded onto thousands of organizations’ information systems.

CFTC: Federal Court Orders Oregon Owner Of Precious Metals Firm To Pay $1.3 Million To Victims Of Fraudulent Precious Metals Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington entered a consent order against Aaron Michael Scott of Portland, Oregon for fraud and misappropriation in connection with a precious metals scheme run by Scott and his now defunct company, BMC Worldwide, Inc. (d/b/a Blue Moon Coins). The order requires Scott to pay $1,381,461.86 in restitution to defrauded customers. Additionally, the order prohibits Scott from further violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC Regulations and permanently bans him from registering with the CFTC and trading in any commodity interests.

EBA Releases A New Erratum (Erratum 2) Of The Taxonomy Package On Reporting Framework 3.0 Phase 2

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an erratum of the technical package on the reporting framework 3.0 phase 2. The correction is made on the file met.xsd to remove hierarchy attribute on ei351. This amendment has no impact on reporting framework 3.0 and aims at making the DPM backward compatible with historical framework versions.
