  • FINMA Executive Board: Rupert Schaefer To Leave FINMA

    Rupert Schaefer has decided to leave the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA on 31 August 2022. The current head of the Recovery and Resolution division will take on the role of Executive Director of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority BaFin in Germany from 1 November 2022.

    Rupert Schaefer has led the Recovery and Resolution division since March 2020 and also represented FINMA in international fora. The 42-year-old lawyer has been a member of the Executive Board since 2015, initially leading the Strategic Services division. Between 2013 and 2015 he led the International Affairs team (cf. CV and photo).
