CFTC Awards Whistleblower Over $18 Million

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced an award of over $18 million to a whistleblower who provided detailed information and assistance in a CFTC enforcement action and in a related action by another agency. The whistleblower provided assistance to the Division of Enforcement’s (DOE) staff that was significant in amount and quality. The whistleblower’s communications with the other agency led to a related action and were crucial to its resolution.

CFTC Charges Former Chief Executive Officer Of Digital Asset Platform With Fraud In Massive Commodity Pool Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced it filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against Tennessee resident Stephen Ehrlich, the former chief executive officer of now-bankrupt entities Voyager Digital Ltd., Voyager Digital Holdings, Inc., and Voyager Digital, LLC (collectively, Voyager). The complaint charges Ehrlich with fraud and registration failures in connection with the Voyager digital asset platform and Voyager’s operation of an unregistered commodity pool. Ehrlich and Voyager falsely touted the Voyager platform as a “safe haven” to earn high-yield returns to induce customers to purchase and store digital asset commodities.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published a Report on the role of environmental and social risks in the prudential framework of credit institutions and investment firms. Taking a risk-based approach, the Report assesses how the current prudential framework captures environmental and social risks. It recommends targeted enhancements to accelerate the integration of environmental and social risks across the Pillar 1. The proposed enhancements aim to support the transition towards a more sustainable economy, while ensuring that the banking sector remains resilient.
