The Future Of The FUTOP Market

The Danish FUTOP market grew steadily in the first years after the establishment, however, since 1995, turnover has plunged. Today, the trading volume is at a level where it is no longer profitable, neither for the clearing members nor for the Clearing Centre, to operate systems in which to trade and settle listed derivatives.

Stefan Halldorsson Resigns From Position Of President Of Iceland Stock

Mr. Stefan Halldorsson, the president of ISE, has decided to leave his position in the Exchange and has been recruited elsewhere. He resumes the position of general manager for the Pension Fund of Engineers in Iceland (Lifeyrissjodur verkfraedinga) next autumn.

OSC Approves Changes To TSE's Continued Listing Requirements

The Ontario Securities Commission recently approved changes to the TSE's Continued Listing Requirements and Suspension Review Process. These new changes that were first published last October become effective April 1, 2000. Companies must now meet these higher standards in order to remain listed on the TSE.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) will be closed on April 21, 2000 in observance of Good Friday. Therefore, April expiration will occur as follows: The last day of trading for CBOE stock options and OEX will be Thursday, April 20, 2000.

SFE Seeks Clear Disclosure Before Making Decision On New SPIĀ®

The Chairman of the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE), Mr Rick Holliday-Smith, issued the following statement after an SFE Board meeting on Wednesday, 29 March: "The SFE Board will seek clear disclosure from Standard & Poor's (S&P), the operator of ASX's index business from 3 April, before naming the index to underlie SFE's new Share Price Index (SPIĀ®) futures and options contracts.

Program Trading Averaged 18.9 Percent Of NYSE Volume During Mar. 20-Mar. 24

The New York Stock Exchange today released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Mar. 20-Mar.24. The data indicated that during Mar. 20-Mar.24, program trading amounted to 18.9 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 1,038.6 million shares, or 196.3 million shares a day.

Osaka Mercantile Exchange RSS3 Futures And Rubber Index Futures Weekly Report

On March 21, OME RSS3 futures opened marginally lower on long-liquidation in the absence of bullish factors. The current month and distant month fell to 63.90 yen and 77.90 yen, respectively. Later, the yen went lower due to the raise of the interest rate by FRB.
