Instinet ECN And Island ECN Lower Routing Prices For All Clients - Combined Liquidity Pool To Be Branded INET

Instinet ECN and Island ECN, soon to be combined into one electronic marketplace branded INET, today announced a 37 percent price reduction for routing orders in over-the-counter securities to other trading venues through Instinet's SmartRouter. This price reduction is retroactive to October 1, 2003 and effective through the end of the year.

Instinet Group Incorporated (NASDAQ: INET) announced today that its U.S. equity share volume in September 2003 was 12,211 million shares.(1) This compares to 9,446 million shares in August 2003 and 8,662 million shares in September 2002.

Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) commends today’s decision by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“Commission”) to remove the U.S. Futures Exchange application from the Commission’s 60-day fast track approval process. The Commission’s decision recognizes that there are important issues and concerns regarding the manner in which U.S. Futures Exchange would be organized and operated.
