CME Russell 1000 Futures Contract Volume Reaches Second Consecutive Record

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, yesterday set a new volume record of 2,593 for its Russell 1000® futures contract, breaking the prior day’s record of 2,063 contracts traded. Open interest, which reflects the total number of contracts that have not yet been offset or fulfilled for delivery, was 2,174 positions.

Program Trading Averaged 52.1 Percent of NYSE Volume During Jan. 31-Feb. 4

The New York Stock Exchange today released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Jan. 31-Feb. 4. The data indicated that during Jan. 31-Feb. 4, program trading amounted to 52.1 percent of NYSE average daily volume of 1,659.6 million shares, or 864.1 million shares a day.
