Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Wednesday, August 4, 2004: Argo Energy Ltd. (TSXVN:AAE) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the ticker symbol “AAE” at the open on Thursday, August 5, 2004.

Securities Industry Association Survey: Reflecting Market Gains, Registered Reps’ Commissions, Fees, Earnings Increased In 2003 - Fee-Based Services Rise In Importance, As Reps Build Long-Term Relationships And Investor Choices Increase

As the financial markets posted solid gains in 2003 after three years of decline, registered representatives have generated modest increases in gross commissions and fees and in their own earnings. Although commissions, fees, and earnings posted gains in 2003, the figures are still well below the highs in 2000, according to the Securities Industry Association's 2003 Report on Production and Earnings of Registered Representatives.

SEC: Bristol-Myers Squibb Company Agrees To Pay $150 Million To Settle Fraud Charges

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it filed an enforcement action against Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, a New York-based company whose largest division, the U.S. Medicines Group, is based in New Jersey. Satrix Becomes First Collective Investment Scheme To List On JSE Securities Exchange South Africa

From 1st August 2004, the three Satrix Exchange Traded Funds – Satrix 40, Satrix Fini and Satrix Indi – will be registered as Collective Investment Schemes in terms of the CIS Control Act 2002. Satrix will become the first Collective Investment Scheme to be listed on the JSE Securities Exchange SA, paving the way for further JSE listings of CIS products.
