  • Former Chairman And CEO Of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. Ordered To Pay Over $22 Million For Role In Accounting Fraud

    The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Henry C. Yuen, the former chairman and chief executive officer of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc., has been ordered to pay over $22 million for his role in a scheme to defraud investors by inflating Gemstar's licensing and advertising revenues. In addition, Yuen will be permanently barred from serving as an officer or director of a public company.

  • Euronext.liffe Bclear Volume Races Past 20 Million Mark

    – On Tuesday 9 May, the total volume in equity derivatives futures and options registered through Euronext.liffe’s Bclear wholesale service passed 20 million milestone. The service only registered its 10 millionth contract on 11 April: total volume has doubled in the last month.

  • CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) Options Trade 150,493 Contracts On Wednesday, May 10, Setting New Volume Record

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that reported volume in options on the CBOE Volatility Index, "VIX" (options ticker symbol VIX), was 150,493 contracts today, May 10th, beating the previous record of 62,461 contracts, set on May 1, 2006. Open interest stood at 516,035 contracts at the start of trading this morning.
