The international derivatives exchange Eurex today announced its plans to cooperate with The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to set up the world’s first real-time finance trading laboratory on campus as a major part of its new Training & Education Initiative in Asia. Burgundy Monthly Report July 2010: Declining Nordic Market Turnover

The average daily turnover was EUR 81.6 (97.7) million, a decrease of 16.5 percent. The average number of trades per day was 11,536 (11,154), an increase of 3.4 percent. The trading participant with the highest turnover was Handelsbanken with a turnover of EUR 774.4 (729.7) million. The most traded instrument was Volvo B, with a turnover of EUR 129.6 (195.2) million, an decrease of 33.6 percent.

Federal Court Freezes Assets Of Oklahoma Man Jeremiah C. Yancy And His Company, Longbranch Group International LLC - Yancy And Longbranch Charged With Operating A Million Dollar forex Ponzi Scheme And Misappropriating Customer Funds

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that it obtained an emergency court order freezing assets held by defendants Jeremiah C. Yancy (a/k/a Jeremiah C. Glaub) of Atoka, Okla. and his company, Longbranch Group International LLC (a/k/a Longbranch LLC) (Longbranch) of Houston, Texas. The court’s order also prohibits the destruction of books and records and grants the CFTC immediate access to such documents.

FINRA Fines HSBC $375,000 For Unsuitable Sales Of Inverse Floating Rate CMOs To Retail Customers And Related Supervisory Failures - Firm Paid Customers Restitution Of $320,000

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has fined HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. $375,000 for recommending unsuitable sales of inverse floating rate Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs) to retail customers. HSBC failed to adequately supervise the suitability of the CMO sales and fully explain the risks of an inverse floating rate or other risky CMO investment to its customers.

FINRA: Merrill Lynch To Pay More Than $2.5 Million Related To UIT Sales Charge Discount Failures - Firm Is Fined $500,000, Ordered To Pay Over $2 Million In Customer Remediation

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced yesterday that it had fined Merrill Lynch $500,000 for failing to provide sales charge discounts to customers on eligible purchases of Unit Investment Trusts (UITs). FINRA also found that Merrill Lynch failed to have an adequate supervisory system in place to ensure customers received appropriate UIT discounts. The firm also agreed to provide remediation of more than $2 million to affected customers.
