New European Financial Watchdogs On Duty

1 January saw the emergence of three new European financial supervisory authorities. The Euro-pean Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority and the European Securities and Markets Authority will overlook the financial markets of EU member states with more coordination and more strictly than before.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has fined Barry Williams £25,000 and banned him from working in regulated financial services for his part in a scheme that defrauded leading London market insurers of more than £2 million.

ISDA Determinations Committee Resolves One Or More Auctions May Be Held For Anglo Irish

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. (ISDA) today announced that its EMEA Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee resolved one or more auctions may be held to settle Relevant Transactions in respect of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation Limited following its resolution on December 23, 2010 that a Restructuring Credit Event occurred. This is a subsequent and separate credit event to that which the EMEA Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee resolved on November 23, 2010
