Thai Capital Market Bodies Urge Monitoring Situation

Thai stock prices have been affected by several factors, e.g., the Thai-Cambodian border tension, imposition of the Internal Security Act in seven Bangkok districts, and anti-government rallies, which are planned to intensify on February 11, noted Mr. Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FeTCO). He suggested that investors buy stocks with sound fundamentals while keeping updated on global economic movement. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) affirmed that it has received no reports that any listed firm has been significantly affected by the Thai-Cambodian border crisis, while assuring that it has been closely monitoring events.

IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of regulated global exchanges, clearing houses and over-the-counter (OTC) markets, today reported consolidated revenues of $285 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, an increase of 11% from fourth quarter 2009 revenues of $257 million. Consolidated net income attributable to ICE for the fourth quarter grew 18% to $99 million from $84 million in the prior fourth quarter. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) in the fourth quarter were $1.34, up 19% from fourth quarter 2009 diluted EPS of $1.13.

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has banned Daniel Hassell from working in regulated financial services. Hassell knew that the FSA was not satisfied that he was a fit and proper person to perform a significant influence function. Despite this Hassell performed a function at a City firm for four years without obtaining the FSA’s approval.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For CNOOC Futures

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Friday, 11 February 2011, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.
