  • S&P Dow Jones Indices Announces Changes To The S&P/TSX Canadian Indices - A Deletion From The S&P/TSX Venture Composite And Venture Select Indices

    S&P Canadian Index Services will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices:

    The shareholders of Hana Mining Ltd. (TSXVN:HMG) have approved the Plan of Arrangement whereby the company will be acquired by Cupric Canyon Capital LP and Cuprous Capital Ltd. Shareholders of Hana Mining will receive $CDN0.82 cash per share held.

    Hana Mining will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite and Venture Select Indices after the close of Wednesday, January 9, 2013. 

  • CFTC Extending Period For Accepting Public Comment On A CME Request To Adopt New Chapter 10 And New Rule 1001 Of CME’s Rulebook

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is extending the time period for which it is accepting public comment on a request from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) for approval of a rule (Rule 1001) submitted pursuant to section 40.5 of the Commission’s regulations. On December 14, 2012, CME amended its filing. 

  • Global ETF And ETP Assets Reach A New High Of Nearly $2 Trillion ($1.95 Trillion) At The End Of 2012

    Global assets invested in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)and Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) hit an all-time high of nearly $2 trillion ($1.95 trillion) at the end of 2012. ETF and ETP assets have increased by 27.6% from $1.53 trillion to $1.95 trillion during 2012, according to figures from ETFGI’s monthly Global ETF and ETP industry insights.

  • Statement By Commissioner Michel Barnier On The Impact Of The Latest Basel Committee Liquidity Developments For Capital Requirements (CRD 4) In The EU

    "I welcome the unanimous agreement reached by the Basel Committee on the revised liquidity coverage ratio and the gradual approach for its phasing-in by clearly defined dates. This is significant progress which addresses issues already raised by the European Commission. We now need to make full use of the observation period, and learn from the reports that the European Banking Authority will prepare on the results of the observation period, before formally implementing in 2015 the liquidity coverage ratio under EU law in line with the Basel standards.

  • Trading On The Warsaw Stock Exchange: December 2012

    • Total trading in shares on the Main Market reached PLN 16.1 billion in December 2012, an increase of 2.1% year on year.
    • Total trading in shares on the Main Market was close to PLN 203 billion in 2012, a decrease of 24.3% year on year.
    • The value of non-Treasury bond issues on Catalyst in 2012 increased by 30.9% and the value of trading increased by 30.7% year on year.
    • Total trading in Treasury securities on Treasury BondSpot Poland in 2012 was over PLN 1 trillion.
    • The volume of trading in all derivative instruments was 11.3 million in 2012 v. 15.6 million in 2011.1)
    • The total volume of trading in electricity on the WSE markets (spot and forward transactions) was 27.1 TWh in December 2012, an increase of 74.4% year on year.
