Equity Options Exercise Totals BRL 3.25 Billion On BM&FBOVESPA

The equity options exercise today in the BOVESPA segment totaled BRL 3.25 billion, of which BRL 1.78 billion in call options and BRL 1.47 billion in put options.

The Brazilian Exchange will be present at “Panel 2 – Special Session: ESG” on October 16, when for the first time environmental, social and corporate governance questions will be discussed in an exclusive session dedicated to these matters.

The performance of the world’s leading exchanges saw the FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index bounce back to health in quarter three, with a 5.5 per cent increase in value compared to the brutal results of quarter two this year which saw the Index value drop by 11.4 per cent.

• Share volumes traded across Tape A, B, and C decreased1% monthly and decreased 30% annually to 124 billion shares (see chart).
• In September 2012, off-exchange trading accounted for34% of the shares traded in NMS Equity Securities.
• Share volumes in NYSE-listed securities decreased 0.4%monthly and 27% annually to 70 billion shares.
• NASDAQ-listed securities share volume decreased 5%monthly and 22% annually to 33 billion shares.

At its annual meeting in Taipei, the General Assembly of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) has elected Andreas Preuss, Deputy CEO of Deutsche Börse AG and Eurex CEO, to be its new Chairman. Preuss will lead the global exchange association for the next two years in addition to his responsibilities at Deutsche Börse Group.
