U.S. Equities Market Share
- Share volumes traded across Tape A, B, and C decreased 10% monthly and decreased 8%annually to approximately 130 billion shares.
- In April 2012, off-exchange trading accounted for 32% of the shares traded in NMS Equity Securities.
- Share volume in NYSE-listed securities decreased 11% monthly and 6% annually to 75 billion shares.
- NASDAQ-listed securities share volume decreased 8% monthly and 12% annually to 34 billion shares.

MGEX Announces Single-Click Spread Functionality Between MGEX And CBOT Wheat Contracts
MGEX, a Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization, today unveiled new functionality involving its Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) futures contract. At the request of market participants, MGEX collaborated with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) to introduce single-click trading functionality between the MGEX HRSW futures and CBOT Soft Red Winter Wheat (SRWW) futures contracts.

Bucharest Stock Exchange’s Net Profit Is Up By 26% In The First Quarter Of 20121
Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) reported first-quarter 2012 net profit of RON 2.77 million,up 26% compared with the same quarter from 2011 and up 140% from fourth-quarter 2011 (Q1.2011: RON 2.20 million, Q4.2011: RON 1.15 million). The successful closing of the secondary public offer for 15% of the shares issued by the national company of electricity transmission, Transelectrica, was one of the main events which influenced BVB’s operating activity in the first quarter of 2012.

Financial Stability Board: Formation Of The Enhanced Disclosure Task Force
The importance to market confidence of useful disclosure by financial institutions of their risk exposures and risk management practices has been underscored in recent years, and the FSB mentioned, in its press release on 20 March 2012, that it will facilitate the formation of a private-sector task force to develop principles for improved disclosures.

I am pleased to speak this morning at what has become, over nearly 50 years, perhaps the most prestigious conference for bankers, academics, and bank supervisors in the United States. The first part of my remarks will highlight the significant progress that has been made over the past several years toward restoring the banking system to good health. I will also talk about some of the challenges banks face as they adapt to the post-crisis economic and regulatory environment. I will then review recent trends in credit conditions, noting that bank lending has generally been improving but remains restrained in some areas.
