NASDAQ OMX Nordic Trading Statistics May 2013

NASDAQ OMX today publishes monthly trade statistics for the Nordic1 and Baltic2 markets. Below follows a summary of the statistics for May 2013:
- The share trading increased by 2.9 % to a daily average of 2.223bn EUR, compared to 2.160bn EUR in May 2012. Compared to the previous month, April 2013, the daily average decreased by 8.8 %.
- Derivatives trading decreased by 11.0 % to a daily average of 431,473 contracts, compared with 485,046 contracts in May --2012.
- ETF trading3 (Exchange Traded Funds) decreased by 45.4 % to a daily average of 43.8m EUR compared to 80.3m EUR in May 2012.
- Novo Nordisk A/S was the most traded stock during the past month, followed by Atlas Copco AB. Merrill Lynch was the most active member during the past month, followed by SEB.
- NASDAQ OMX Nordic’s share of order-book trading in our listed stocks4 decreased to 67.2%, compared to 68.3% previous month.
- NASDAQ OMX Nordic’s share of order-book trading in Norwegian listed shares5 increased to 11.5 % compared to 10.4 % the previous month.

Thai Bourse Improves Efficiency Of Derivative Warrants Trade And Adds Underlying Assets

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has improved derivative warrants (DW) trading by shortening the listing period to 3 days from 15 days; lengthening ticker symbols to include the date of the last trading day for that DW, enabling investors to easily identify the allowed trading period of each set of DWs, and expanding the underlying assets for derivative warrants to include securities listed under the SET100 Index and SET Index series.

R.J. O’Brien Appoints Julie DeMatteo To Managing Director, Asset Management

R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO), the oldest and largest independent futures brokerage and clearing firm in the United States, announced that Julie M. DeMatteo, has joined the firm today and will serve as Managing Director, Asset Management. DeMatteo, 50, has nearly three decades of experience in futures across various disciplines, frequently involved in structuring products as well as supporting and creating alternative investment vehicles and asset management solutions for clients.

May Statistics Report From The NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchanges

Share Trading
The value of average daily share trading amounted to EUR 2.2 billion, compared to EUR 2.0 billion during the past 12-month period. The average number of trades per trading day was 311,352, compared to 302,829 during the past 12-month period. The total market cap of listed companies at NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange amounted to EUR 841 billion, compared to EUR 659 billion in May 2012.

LME Posts New Monthly Trading Record

Record volumes were transacted for the second consecutive month on the London Metal Exchange (LME) in May 2013, with 14,597,723 lots traded. April 2013 saw a record of 14,517,213 lots traded.

BME: The Spanish Stock Exchange Traded €267.93 Billion To May

- Equity trading volume in May reached €48.12 billion
- ETF trading to the end of May was up 50% year on year
- In May trading on BME’s Derivatives market came in at 3.4 million contracts
- The number of trades on BME’s Corporate Debt market was the highest so far this year and more than nine times as high as in the same period in 2012

First Ever IR Graduate Program For Emirati Students Launched In Dubai - Dubai Financial Market, NASDAQ Dubai And The Middle East Investor Relations Society Partner To Offer A Unique IR Graduate Program - Program Aims To Provide Emirati Students With An Introduction To The Investor Relations Profession And Capital Markets

The first ever Investor Relations (IR) Graduate Program has yesterday been launched as a joint initiative between Dubai Financial Market (DFM), NASDAQ Dubai and the Middle East Investor Relations Society (ME-IR Society). Six finance students from three universities in the UAE were selected for the program which will allow them to do a work placement within the IR teams of some of the major listed companies in the country including EMAAR, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, SHUAA Capital and Dubai Islamic Bank.
