    Honorable Members of Parliament, it is an honor for me to speak in this veritable temple of European democracy. Thank you very much for the invitation. I am honored to address the elected representatives of the peoples of Europe, at a critical time both for my country–for Greece–and for the Eurozone and the European Union as a whole, as well.

  • EBA Publishes Technical Standards And Guidelines On Simplified Obligations

    The EBA published today its final Guidelines and final draft Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) relating to the eligibility of institutions for simplified obligations in the context of recovery planning, resolution planning and resolvability assessments under the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD). The EBA also issued final draft ITS on the procedures, forms and templates for submitting information on resolution plans under the BRRD. The work of the EBA aims at promoting a common EU framework for the application of simplified obligations, in line with the principle of proportionality, and to facilitate cooperation among EU authorities.

  • Greece: A New Request For ESM Support

    The Eurogroup of euro zone finance ministers will hold a conference call today to discuss an expected Greek request for financial assistance through the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem said, after the meeting of Eurozone finance ministers of the Eurozone yesterday. At the meeting, the new Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos’ assessed the situation in the wake of last Sunday’s Greek referendum results.
