Ahead of the Chancellor giving his Autumn statement on the 3rd December TheCityUK has sent a representation to HM Treasury. The representation puts some carefully-considered requests in their macroeconomic context, and in this way, seeks to present a coherent, persuasive argument rather than a simple industry “wish-list”. The letter focused on three broad themes: UK competitiveness, economic growth and macroeconomic stability.

UK's The Financial Conduct Authority Publishes Guidance Guarantee Policy Statement

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published standards1 for the bodies responsible for delivering the Government’s new Guidance Guarantee aimed at those with defined contribution (DC) pensions. The FCA has also published rules requiring pension provider firms to direct their customers to the guidance service at retirement.

Socially Responsible Index (SRI) Celebrates 10 Years With Record Number Of Constituents - Johannesburg Stock Exchange SRI Annual Review Results 2014

This year’s JSE Socially Responsible Index (SRI Index) includes more constituents than any other year since the launch of the Index 10 years ago. The number of companies fulfilling the index requirements relating to their environmental, social, governance (ESG) policies, management practices and reporting climbed to 82 this year, compared to 72 companies in 2013.

European long term investment funds (ELTIFs) will help to match long term projects and companies which want to grow with the investment they need. As an element of the Capital Markets Union, they will also support the EU's Investment Plan launched earlier today.

Telekom Austria: New Shares Start Trading On Vienna Stock Exchange Today

Today, 221.5 million new shares of Telekom Austria started trading on the prime market of the Vienna Stock Exchange. Out of this total, 25.5 million shares are held in free float. The Austrian telecommunications company, which has been listed for 14 years, raised around EUR 1 billion in fresh capital in this transaction. The company carried out this year's second-largest capital increase and is also the fifth company to tap the market for fresh capital through the Vienna Stock Exchange in 2014. Austrian listed companies (Raiffeisen Bank International, PORR, FACC, BKS Bank and Telekom Austria) have raised a total of around EUR 4 billion in equity in 2014 – the largest volume since 2007.

Euronext Launches Dairy Complex

Euronext today announced that it will launch a dairy derivatives complex in spring 2015. The full suite of futures and options will cover the three key dairy products currently traded in Europe and internationally: butter; skimmed milk powder; and whey powder, allowing the European dairy community to hedge its exposure to price fluctuations in this volatile market, just as the milk quotas expire in the European market. This launch is subject to relevant regulatory review.
