Platts JKM™ For March-Delivered LNG Plunges 61.7% In Largest Year-Over-Year Drop - Northeast Asian Prices Fall 25% From Previous Month oO High Inventories

Prices of spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) for March delivery to northeast Asia saw their largest year-over-year drop on record, plunging 61.7% from March 2014 to average $7.436 per million British thermal units (/MMBtu), according to latest Platts Japan/Korea Marker (Platts JKM™) data for month-ahead delivery.

Osaka Exchange, Inc. (OSE) will partially revise the Business Regulations, etc. in connection with shortening the period from the last trading day to the day of settlement by physical delivery and payment of JGB futures contracts. With the changes to the taxation system for public and corporate bonds in the FY2013 Tax Reform, OSE will make the necessary revisions for JGB futures contracts, such as changing the method for calculating accrued interests in settlement by physical delivery and payment and shortening the period between the last trading day and the day of settlement by physical delivery and payment by two business days.

This was in the context of increased operational trading activity driven by improved investor confidence in 2014 and the listed companies’ performance as well as respective dividend yields, which positively affected trading values and volume. The total trading value for the year jumped by 138.6% rising to AED 381.5 billion.
