The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC), during its 719 /13.07.2015 Board of Directors meeting, and further to the relevant Opinion issued by ESMA on the same day, has decided, in view of the extension of the Legislative Act providing for a bank holiday in Greece, and the consecutive extension of the decision to close down, for the same period, the stock and bond markets, to extend the temporary prohibition of transactions in any financial instrument which would create a short position of the shares admitted to trading on the Athens Exchange and the Multilateral Trading Facility of “EN.A” (Alternative Market of the Athens Exchange) of which the relative Competent Authority is HCMC.

The agreement provides a basis for restoring trust among the parties and creates the conditions for a path forward for Greece within the Eurozone, which is in the best interests of Greece, Europe and the global economy. It underscores Greece’s commitment to make deep and difficult fiscal and structural reforms, and reflects a commitment by its creditors to provide financial support and help create a path for Greece to return to growth, and achieve debt sustainability. These pledges will require difficult steps by all of the parties and substantial work remains to be done. The United States will remain engaged with all parties in this important period.”

With reference to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) Circular No. (31) of 2015 concerning Eid Al-Fitr holidays, and after consultation with the securities markets and the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) announced that local securities markets are to close for Eid Al-Fitr holidays on Thursday, Ramadan 29 (July 16) until Shawwal 3. Trading reopens on Shawwal 4 (July 21). The DGCX, however, is to determine when it closes and reopens according to public interest requirements.

Using non-public data from the U.S. Treasury cash and futures markets, the joint report provides detailed analysis of the market conditions and record trading volumes that day, including an unusually rapid round trip in prices and deterioration in liquidity during a narrow window.
