CFTC Staff Issues Advisory Regarding FBOT Regulatory Filings

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Market Oversight announced today that it issued an advisory notifying all foreign boards of trade (FBOTs) registered under Part 48 of the CFTC’s regulations that beginning April 1, 2024, certain regulatory filings (covered filings) should be submitted through the CFTC’s online filings portal, which has been updated for FBOT use.

US Department Of Justice: Commodities Trading Company Will Pay Over $661M to Resolve Foreign Bribery Case

Gunvor S.A. (Gunvor), an international commodities trading company based in Switzerland, has pleaded guilty and will pay over $661 million to resolve an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department into violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).

US Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency Releases CRA Evaluations For 31 National Banks And Federal Savings Associations

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today released a list of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) performance evaluations that became public during the period of February 1, 2024, through February 29, 2024. The list contains only national banks, federal savings associations, and insured federal branches of foreign banks that have received ratings. The possible ratings are outstanding, satisfactory, needs to improve, and substantial noncompliance.

- Index futures turnover volume increased by 15.7% YoY to 669,600 contracts
- Aggregate ETF and ETC turnover value increased by 82.2% YoY to PLN 127.0 million
- Electricity turnover volume increased by 17.3% YoY to 11.0 TWh
- Natural gas turnover volume decreased by 16.8% YoY to 10.5 TWh

Federal Reserve Monetary Policy Report

The Federal Reserve Act requires the Federal Reserve Board to submit written reports to Congress containing discussions of "the conduct of monetary policy and economic developments and prospects for the future." This report—called the Monetary Policy Report—is submitted semiannually to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs and to the House Committee on Financial Services, along with testimony from the Federal Reserve Board Chair.
