CalPERS Signs Japan's Institutional Investor Stewardship Code Promoting Corporate Engagement

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced it is a signatory and supporter of Japan's stewardship code, formally titled the Principles for Responsible Institutional Investors (the Code), which aims to enhance long-term return for investors through constructive engagement and dialogue with the publicly traded Japanese companies in its portfolio.

Finansinspektionen - Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority: Terrorism Financing

The national risk assessment regarding the financing of terrorism that was published in June 2014 identified a need to increase knowledge and awareness about the financing of terrorism. In an effort to become more knowledgeable, Finansinspektionen commissioned a report from the Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies (CATS) on the threat of terrorism financing and experiences of counteractive measures in other countries.

Nigerian Stock Exchange Celebrates Global Money Week

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has concluded plans to celebrate this year’s Global Money Week across its offices nationwide. The week begins from March 14 and ends on March 20, 2016. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Take Part, Save Smart’. The Global Money Week which is a global movement to raise awareness of the importance of financial education and financial inclusion for children and youth is led by Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI), a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam.

CFTC And EPA Enter Into A Memorandum Of Understanding

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that allows the agencies to share Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) data and analysis. Under this agreement, the agencies agree to cooperate and coordinate on topics related to implementation of the RFS program and the market for renewable identification numbers.

ESMA Maintains Market Risk Indicator At Highest Level

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) latest risk report has found that overall market risks for European securities markets remain high with the market risk indicator remaining at very high – the highest level – with a stable outlook, while liquidity and contagion risk remain athigh with a stable outlook.
