Today I will touch on some of the SFC’s work which may be of interest to the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) community. But before doing that, I would like to recognise the fact that in its short existence, the HFSB has, in my view, broken new ground in the way in which industry associations can operate as standard setters.

Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFC Authority) Has Announced For Public Consultation A Proposed New Electronic Transactions Law, DIFC Law No. 2 Of 2016 (“Electronic Transactions Law”)

DIFC Authority wishes to enact legislation to clarify, for all purposes in the DIFC, that electronic signatures are enforceable, that electronic records have equivalent effect to hard copies and that references to “writing” include electronic means.

NZX Celebrates Milestone In New NZ Milk Price Futures

NZX celebrated a milestone in the development of its NZ milk price futures contract on Friday, with more than one million kilograms of milk solids (kg/ms) traded since the product launched at the end of May.

The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) Announces The Commencement Of Implementing The Investors Ownership Disclosure Mechanism

With reference to the announcement by Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) dated 04/07/1437 corresponding to 11/04/2016, and with reference to the follow up announcement dated 28/09/1437 corresponding to 03/07/2016 relating to the Investors Ownership Disclosure Mechanism, The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) announces that it shall commence implementing the previously mentioned mechanism on the first trading day after Eid Al-Fitr Holiday dated 05/10/1437 corresponding to 10/7/2016.

The total value of shares traded for the month ending 30 June 2016 amounted to SAR 84.28 billion, decreasing by 28.55% over the previous month; while total stock market capitalization reached SAR 1,504.35 billion at the end of this period, increasing by 1.06% over the previous month.

CFTC Financial Data For Futures Commission Merchants Update

Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight (DSIO) within 17 business days after the end of the month. Selected financial information from these reports is published below. The most recent month-end information generally is added within 12 business days after FCMs and RFEDs file their reports, but occasionally may be added later. For example:  The 17th business day filing “due date" for February 28, 2015 financial reports was March 25, 2015.  The 12 business day target for posting these data was April 10, 2015.

Microchip Technology Incorporated To Join The NASDAQ-100 Index Beginning July 18, 2016

Nasdaq (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today announced that Microchip Technology Incorporated (Nasdaq:MCHP), will become a component of the NASDAQ-100 Index® (Nasdaq:NDX) and the NASDAQ-100 Equal Weighted Index (Nasdaq:NDXE) prior to market open on Monday, July 18, 2016.  Microchip Technology Incorporated will replace Endo International plc (Nasdaq:ENDP) in the indexes.
