  • EBA Publishes Opinion Proposing To Further Strengthen Depositor Protection In The EU

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today its second opinion addressed to the EU Commission on the implementation of the Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive (DGSD) in the EU. The Opinion focuses on the payouts by deposit guarantee schemes (DGSs) and proposes a number of changes to the EU legal framework, aimed at strengthening depositor protection, improving depositor information, enhancing financial stability and reinforcing operational effectiveness of DGSs.

  • Eurex Expands Strategic Relationship With MSCI - MSCI Index-Linked ESG Derivatives And Total Return Futures To Be Included

    Eurex and MSCI have signed an agreement on the long-term extension of their strategic relationship. In addition to the long-term extension of the license agreement on futures and options, MSCI will license new indexes to Eurex for listed ESG equity index derivatives and Total Return Futures (TRF).

    The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) wants to inform stakeholders that, following the European Council’s decision today extending the period under Article 50(3) relating to the United Kingdom’s (UK) withdrawal from the European Union (EU), its previous statements relating to its preparations for a no-deal Brexit on 31 October no longer apply.

     

  • ACER Publishes A New Edition Of The REMIT Quarterly

    The 18th edition of the Agency’s REMIT Quarterly has been published on the REMIT Portal. Covering the third quarter of 2019, this edition reports about the sanctions of two market participants for illegally marking the close on the gas markets by the Spanish NRA that happened in January 2017, as well as first sanctions imposed under REMIT in the German gas market, taking place in October 2016. Both sanctioned behaviours amount to a breach of Article 5 of REMIT.
