The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index at the end of January gained 5 percent from end-2018 to 1,641.73 points, moving in the same direction as other Asian stock markets. The average daily trading value of SET and Market for Alternative Investment (mai) in the first month of 2019 was THB 48.58 billion (approx. USD 1.52 billion), jumping 15.5 percent from the previous month. Local institutional and foreign investors were net buyers in January.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange January 2019 Market Summary - TOCOM December 2018 Volume Averaged 80,532 Contracts, Down 4.7% MoM

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange announced today that January 2019 average daily volume was 80,532 contracts, down 4.7% from December. Volume increased for TOCOM’s most active contracts, such as Gold Standard, which grew 20.7% month-over-month to 32,489 contracts. Gold Mini increased 20.4% m-o-m to 3,181 contracts and Gold Rolling Spot was up 9.0% m-o-m to 5,691 contracts. Platinum Standard decreased 5.5% m-o-m to 9,657 contracts and Dubai Crude Oil contract declined 31.8% m-o-m to 14,899 contracts.

- In January 2019, the average daily number of trades was 17% higher than the pcp. The average daily value traded on-market of $3.7 billion was up 3% on the pcp.
- Volatility (as measured by the average daily movement in the All Ordinaries Index) was 0.5% in January down on the previous month 0.9%.
- Expected future volatility (as measured by the S&P/ASX 200 VIX) in January was an average of 14.8 (compared to 17.6 in December).
