What Do You Wish For In MiFID 2.1? Christian Voigt, Ion Markets

The European Commission is required to review MiFID 2 by March 2020. The German Finance Ministry kicked things off at the beginning of this year by inviting comments from the industry. Attending the recent FIA Compliance and Regulation Forum, I noted that many of the regulators and market participants seem to prefer targeted adjustments over a large-scale rewrite. So, it appears that MiFID could follow the path chosen for the EMIR review. This is a sensible approach, particularly because the substantial costs of delivering MiFID 2 are still fresh in our minds.

TOCOM’s Application For Regulatory Approval For New Electricity Futures Market Notified In Official Gazette Yesterday

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange announced today the publication of its application for the trial listing of electricity futures in the official gazette. The application was originally submitted on March 27th to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Vienna Stock Exchange Expands ATX Index Offering With New Leverage Indices

The Vienna Stock Exchange launches new leverage indices on the leading Austrian index ATX, thus expanding its existing range of indices. The new indices with a leverage of 12 and 15 are based on the ATX Net Total Return. The benchmarks take into account the net dividends of the index members. With this expanded offer, the Vienna Stock Exchange is responding to the demand of international market participants.

AIX Agrees To Support The Green Investment Principles

Astana International Exchange (AIX) has agreed to support the Green Investment Principles (GIP) related to investments and operations in the Belt and Road region. The principles have been announced during the 2nd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing on 25 April. The GIP was developed by China Green Finance Committee and the City of London in collaboration with other reputable international organizations. The GIP aims to build an international network for improving the management of environmental and social risks for investments in the Belt and Road region.
