SIX Trading Key Figures: March 2020

In March, trading turnover on the Swiss Stock Exchange was up +80.9% on the previous month and reached CHF 293.0 billion, while the number of transactions increased by +127.7% to 17,399,685. In comparison with the corresponding period last year, trading turnover was up by +67.5% to reach CHF 583.2 billion, while the number of trades rose by +134.5% to a total of 31,192,370. The SMI® declined by -5.3% and dropped to 9,311.9 points at the end of March.

In the light of the worsening global impacts of COVID-19 on individual taxpayers, businesses and the wider economy, the OECD Forum on Tax Administration (FTA) has today published a global reference document setting out actions that FTA tax administrations are currently taking to support taxpayers. These include measures to address cash-flow concerns, difficulties in meeting reporting and payment deadlines and communication initiatives. The intention of this document, which will be updated on a regular basis, is to assist administrations in the consideration and development of their domestic measures.
