Canadian Securities Administrators Publish IIROC Oversight Review Report

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) today released its Oversight Review Report of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), which evaluates whether IIROC has complied with the terms and conditions of its Recognition Orders, and whether specific regulatory processes are effective, efficient and applied consistently and fairly.
SEC Proposes To Improve The Retail Investor Experience Through Modernized Fund Shareholder Reports And Disclosures - Amendments Would Update And Tailor Mutual Fund And Exchange-Traded Fund Disclosures To Retail Investors’ Needs

The Securities and Exchange Commission today proposed comprehensive modifications to the mutual fund and exchange-traded fund disclosure framework to better serve the needs of retail investors. The proposed disclosure framework would feature concise and visually engaging shareholder reports that would highlight information that is particularly important for retail investors to assess and monitor their fund investments. The proposal is a central component of the Commission’s investor experience initiative and responds to comments the Commission received in response to a 2018 request for comment on retail investors’ experience with fund disclosure.

The Investor Advisory Committee (IAC) plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Commission keeps the interests of investors front and center. As an initial matter, one might wonder why Congress thought the SEC needed an Investor Advisory Committee given that investor protection is our core mission. Time and again, however, I see that we do. Indeed in the last year the Commission has made numerous policy choices that investors have emphatically opposed. That makes the IAC—an independent voice representing the interests of investors—more important now than ever.

More and more, America’s families save for their children’s education, for their own retirement, and for a host of other purposes by investing their money in mutual funds and relying on the asset management industry to put their money to work. That’s what I have done for my family just as many folks on this call have as well. We know that it is vital for investors to understand exactly how their money is managed and how their investments perform over time. To that end, although there are a couple of items in the proposal that I hope will improve, I’m pleased to support it because it would make a number of helpful changes to fund disclosure requirements to provide investors with information that is more digestible, user-friendly, relevant, and engaging.

The initial public offering of 1 billion and 50 million shares, representing 15% of total equity shares of Amin Investment Bank (AIB) was held on Tehran Stock Exchange; out of total floated equities, 840 million shares were offered to the public on Wednesday, 5 August 2020, and 210 million shares is offered to the investment funds, on Sunday 9 July 2020. After the price discovery carried out through book-building method, the equities were traded at IRR 10,400 per share. Each of 5 million and 410 thousand and 747 shareholders of the investment bank now owns 161 equity shares of the newly listed company.
