EBA: Consultation On Draft ITS Amending ITS On Supervisory Reporting With Regards To COREP And Asset Encumbrance Reporting (EBA/CP/2021/24)

Thank you for that kind introduction, Anthony. As is customary, I’d like to note that I’m not speaking on behalf of my fellow Commissioners or the SEC staff.
I’m honored to be speaking again at London City Week. It’s been eight years since I last spoke here. That was about benchmark interest rates and the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR). I may come back to that, but I’m mostly going to take the opportunity to discuss three key areas of the reform agenda at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The EBA Proposes To Further Harmonise EU Law Applicable To Branches Of Third Country Credit Institutions

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today a Report on the treatment of incoming third country branches (TCB) under the national law of Member States. The Report, which is addressed to the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, illustrates the results of a stock-taking exercise conducted with competent authorities about their national regulatory law/regulations and supervisory practices and a mapping of the TCBs established in the Member States. Considering the increased volume of activities carried out by TCBs in a context of regulatory fragmentation across the EU, the Report lays down 14 high-level policy recommendations for further harmonisation of EU law.

Reelecting the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) represented by the Executive Director Mazen Al-Wathafi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Euro Asian Stock Exchanges (FEAS), during the thirty-second annual general assembly held on Tuesday 22/6/2021, via visual technology. With the participation of the executive managers of stock exchanges and depository centers members. The ASE got 34 votes out of a total of 39 members.

In the light of recent events the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) wishes to reiterate that under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, auditors have a statutory obligation to immediately report to the SC, if they reasonably believe that there are any matters which may constitute a breach or non-performance of any requirement of securities laws, rules of the stock exchange or any matter which may adversely affect to a material extent the financial position of the listed company.
