FSB Chair’s Letter To G20 Outlines Financial Stability Issues Arising From Russia’s Invasion Of Ukraine

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) today published a letter from its Chair, Klaas Knot, to G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors ahead of their meeting on 20 April. The letter discusses the current outlook for financial stability and sets out the FSB’s plans over the coming months to assess and address emerging vulnerabilities.

Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met with Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. Secretary Yellen emphasized her support for strong U.S.-Indonesia relations, including on climate finance, just energy transition, and the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force. Secretary Yellen firmly condemned Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, and emphasized there will be no business-as-usual for Russia in the global economy. Secretary Yellen emphasized that the United States will continue to work in solidarity with Indonesia to advance the important business of the G20, including addressing the negative impacts of Russia’s invasion on the global economy.

MARF Admits A New 202 Million Euro Securitisation Fund

BME's Fixed Income Market, MARF, today admitted a new 202.3 million euro bond issue to trading from the TDA TITAN Securitisation Fund. With this transaction, the outstanding balance of securitisation bonds registered in MARF reaches 3.42 billion euros, represented by a broad range of securitisation transactions and underlying assets such as mortgages, receivables, CLOs, synthetics, SMEs, etc.

IMF Global Financial Stability Report - April 2022: Financial Stability Risks Have Risen As War Tests The Resilience Of The Financial System Through Various Channels

Chapter 1 looks at the implications of the war in Ukraine on the financial system. Commodity prices pose challenging trade-offs for central banks. Many emerging and frontier markets are facing especially difficult conditions. In China, financial vulnerabilities remain elevated amid ongoing stress in the property sector and new COVID-19 outbreaks. Central banks should act decisively to prevent inflation from becoming entrenched without jeopardizing the recovery. Policymakers will need to confront the structural issues brought to the fore by the war, including the trade-off between energy security and climate transition.
