Japan Financial Services Agency Assistant Commissioner Of International Affairs Office Elected New Co-Chair Of The Financial Action Task Force Policy Development Group

At the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) Plenary from 14th to 17th June 2022, the FATF appointed HABUCHI Takahide, Assistant Commissioner of International Affairs Office of Japan FSA, as new Co-Chair of the FATF PDG (Policy Development Group), one of the five standing committees at the FATF. PDG conducts policy developments, including revision of the FATF Standards. His term is the two years from June 2022 to June 2024. This is the first time that Japan FSA serves as Co-Chair of a FATF standing committee.

Thank you, Meredith and Cullum and thank you to the Society for the invitation to speak to you today. This week, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) took another significant step toward achieving our inflation objective by raising the Federal Funds rate target by 75 basis points. In my view, and I speak only for myself, if the data comes in as I expect I will support a similar-sized move at our July meeting. The Fed is "all in" on re-establishing price stability, and part of that effort involves understanding the forces that have boosted inflation and also examining how policymakers responded. Today, I intend to look back on monetary policy in 2020 and 2021, as I have before in recent speeches, but go a bit further and try to discern some lessons learned.

Pursuant to Section 5c(c)(1) of the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended (“Act”), and Section 40.6(d) of the regulations promulgated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”) under the Act (the “Regulations”), North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”) hereby provides notice that due to increased or decreased volatility, as the case may be, in the underlying markets upon which the Nadex contracts are based, Nadex made changes to the strike widths of various contracts during the week of June 13, 2022 as indicated in the Weekly Notice.

Today in Berlin, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) concluded the last Plenary under the German presidency and produced policy recommendations to strengthen efforts to combat corruption and the misuse of virtual assets. The FATF again condemned the Russian war against Ukraine and, in an unprecedented step, took action to restrict Russia’s FATF membership privileges.
