  • HKEX Remembers Former President Jiang Zemin

    As a mark of deep respect for the late Former President Jiang Zemin, HKEX CEO Nicolas Aguzin led a group of senior executives to observe a three-minute moment of silence at HKEX Connect Hall at 10:00am today (Tuesday). HKEX also suspended all displayed data on its external screens at its Exchange Square offices during the three-minute moment of silence.

    • In November 2022, the average daily number of trades was down 13% on the pcp. The average daily value traded on-market of $6.077 billion was down 6% on the pcp. 
    • Volatility (as measured by the average daily movement in the All Ordinaries Index) was 0.6% in November, up 0.1% on pcp. 
    • Future volatility (as measured by the S&P/ASX 200 VIX) in November was an average of 14.7, compared to 12.8 in the pcp.

  • TAIFEX And TIP Support The Launch Of The First Index Option Strategy ETN Tracking Taiwan Strategy Indices

    Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) and Taiwan Index Plus (TIP) welcomed Yuanta Securities’ issuance of the first covered call ETN tracking one of the indices in the Taiwan Strategy Index series - the TIP TAIFEX TAIEX Covered Call OTM 5% Total Return Index (Covered Call Index). A total of 257,000 shares were traded on the first day of launch, marking it the market’s third most heavily-traded ETN in daily trading volume.

Hsu today discussed the importance of continued prudent credit risk management and diversity and inclusion, two important safety and soundness topics, at the RMA Risk Management and Internal Audit Virtual Conference. The Acting Comptroller highlighted benefits to banks from the Current Expected Credit Losses standard, and the importance of bank commitments to meaningful diversity, equity and inclusion at every organizational level.

    It’s been 13 years since the Group-of-20 (G-20) leaders decided on a package of measures to reform derivatives markets. Of the measures agreed, the reporting of over-the-counter derivatives got most traction early on, but – while an improvement on what went before – the reporting framework never really lived up to its full potential. That’s because of deviations in rule sets across jurisdictions, differences in data formats and discrepancies in how individual firms interpreted the various written regulatory texts.
