The Transition to Risk-free Rates (RFRs) Review analyzes the trading volumes of over-the-counter (OTC) and exchange-traded interest rate derivatives (IRD) that reference selected alternative RFRs, including the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR), the Sterling Overnight Index Average, the Swiss Average Rate Overnight, the Tokyo Overnight Average Rate, the Euro Short-Term Rate and the Australian Overnight Index Average.

At their constituent meeting today, the Exchange Councils of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (FWB) and Eurex Deutschland elected their Chairman and Deputy Chairman. Both Councils had been elected in rotation at the beginning of December 2022.

Many emerging market firms finance themselves with foreign currency debt. Yet foreign currencies, especially safe haven ones, appreciate against the local currency during downturns. This has been a recurring theme in emerging market crises. Corporate leverage and foreign currency borrowing, especially in US dollars, have increased in recent years, making the reasons for borrowing in foreign currency and associated risks important to understand.
