  • October Volume At CBOE Ranks Second All-Time

    Trading volume at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the world's largest options exchange, continued to surpass record levels established last year as 32,435,243 options contracts (18,945,726 calls and 13,489,517 puts) traded in October, a 26% increase over the year ago October volume of 25,716,989 contracts. Open interest in all CBOE listed options stood at 50,852,378 contracts at month's end, 36% higher than the close of October last year when open interest stood at 37,396,223 contract

    The MidAmerica Commodity Exchange, a wholly-owned affiliate of the Chicago Board of Trade, announced today trading volume of 94,729 contracts for October 2000, an increased of 10.7% from September 2000.

    The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) traded £51 trillion worth of contracts in the first ten months of 2000, 15% up on the same period in 1999 and more than the £50 trillion nominal value traded in the whole of last year. In October 2000 average daily nominal value amounted to £231 billion (?335 billion) and total value amounted to £5,078 billion (?7,363 billion), up 38% on October 1999.
