    The London Metal Exchange Limited today issued a consultation paper on proposals to change the Exchange from a membership organisation to a shareholding entity, to help it reinforce and enhance its premier position in the world of non-ferrous metals. The proposals contain clear commitments to continuing the very close relationship that the Exchange has with the physical metals world. This relationship has contributed significantly to the LME's success over many years.

  • First Day Of Trading Telia Shares At The OM Stockholm Exchange

    Today at 12.00 CET Telia, the privatised Swedish telecommunications company, was listed on the OM Stockholm Exchange. During the day, 11 824 deals in the Telia-share were concluded and 222 million shares changed hands. The total value of the deals in the Telia share amounted to 20,36 billion SEK, which is a new record for a single share at the OM Stockholm Exchange. After the first trading day, Telia had a market capitalization of 266 billion SEK.

  • Closure Of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange

    The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange wishes to announce that the offices of the Exchange and its subsidiaries will be closed on Thursday, 15 June 2000 in conjunction with Prophet Muhammad's Birthday. The Exchange and its subsidiaries will commence operations on Friday, 16 June 2000.

    The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on June 13 of the standard maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.1 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 20.1 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.
