  • Nickolas J. Neubauer Elected Chairman Of The CBOT

    Nickolas J. Neubauer, 54, was elected to a two-year term as Chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade in the exchange's annual election December 6, 2000. Neubauer, an independent member of the exchange since 1978, defeated David P. Brennan, also an independent trader and a member of the CBOT® since 1980, Chairman in 1999-2000. The vote was 557 5/6 for Neubauer and 550 for Brennan. Neubauer's term will begin January 2, 2001.

  • Euronext Paris Trading Down Slightly On October But Volumes Since January At A Record High

    In November, trading on Euronext Paris derivatives markets reached a record high at well over 219 million lots since the beginning of the year (219,351,153). At month end, activity was up more than 16.6% on the full-year total in 1999.

    Just like the preceding months, November proved to be yet another very busy month on Euronext Amsterdam’s markets. The month of November saw 51% more shares traded on the stock market than in November 1999. This means a year-to-date increase in share turnover of no less than 70%. The running total for 2000 now stands at ? 1,865 billion in turnover in shares and bonds at Euronext’s Amsterdam stock market, a rise of 35%.     Eurex Clearing AG, the clearinghouse for Eurex, the world's largest derivatives exchange, emphasized its willingness to collaborate on any meaningful clearing solution for Europe on Wednesday. The responsible Eurex Executive Board member, Otto Nägeli, said that Eurex Clearing would be available as a partner for the market in order to improve clearing and netting efficiency in Europe.

  • The Copenhagen Stock Exchange Opens New Mortgage Credit

    The opening of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange's new sub-market is scheduled for 7 December 2000. The sub-market is an issue sub-market, which Realkredit Danmark A/S and Nykredit A/S will start using in connection with auctions involving refinancing of Flex loans and adjustable-rate loans.

    The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today it has selected TradinGear Incorporated to build and deploy its OTC Specialist System. The project will allow PHLX members to make markets and trade in a variety of Nasdaq stocks, expanding on the more than 2300 listed stocks already traded on the PHLX.
