Botswana Stock Exchange Market Commentary

In last week’s commentary we stated that the momentum was slowing in the rise of the market. This week proved us wrong with the DCI up 1.8% on last week’s close with good price discovery, driven higher by heavyweights Sechaba, BIHL and FNBB. Topping the week’s gainers was Sechaba which gained 7% to a new high of P12.34 on 3,210 shares.

Cash products 11.7 million transactions were registered on Euronext’s cash markets in April, a daily average of 583,000, down 9.8% on the same month last year, which was particularly active for April. The total of 53.4 million transactions completed in the year-to-date represents an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period of last year. The daily average of 635,000 transactions registered in the year-to-date is up 7.4% on the same period of last year.

Warsaw Stock Exchange Announces An Extraordinary Adjustment In The WIG, WIG-PL And WIRR Portfolios

Following the official result of the takeover bid by France Telecom for the company Wanadoo (Euronext 100 Index), Wanadoo will be removed from the Euronext 100 Index effective Wednesday 5 May 2004.

Three Appointments To OM Technology Senior Management Team

OMHEX today announced changes to the OM Technology senior management team. Three appointments have been made. Maria Khorsand has been appointed President of the Financial Markets business area, and Elizabeth Sipiere has been appointed President of the Banks & Brokers business area. Roland Tibell, who until today has had a dual role as President of Financial Markets business area and President of OM (US) Inc., will now focus on the Americas region as President of OM Technology Americas.

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes effective after the close of business on Friday, April 30, 2004: The relative weight of Nortel Networks Corporation (TSX:NT – GICS 45201020 Communications Equipment) will increase by approximately 5.72% in the S&P/TSX Capped Information Technology Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float shares pursuant to S&P/TSX Canadian Sector Index methodology.
