Deutsche Börse published a letter from its CEO Werner Seifert to Christopher Hohn, Managing Partner of The Children’s Investment Fund Management (TCI), on Monday. In the letter Deutsche Börse raises questions as to Mr. Hohn’s intentions and corrects misrepresentations by Mr. Hohn.

The Market Participants Consultative Panel held its eighth meeting on 17th March 2005 in Oslo jointly with all CESR Members. The discussion during the meeting was facilitated by the Chairman of CESR. The discussion was primarily focused on two different subjects: analysis of major trends and evolutions in financial markets and the EU/US regulatory and supervisory issues. The discussion on the Himalaya Report was postponed to the next meeting of the Panel.

CME FX On Reuters Expands Reach And To Launch In Asia

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced that on Friday, April 15, trading volume exceeded 7.0 million contracts in a single day for the first time*, surpassing the previous CME record of 6.7 million set on Friday, April 1. Average daily volume at CME for April to date is now 4.7 million contracts.

CBOE To Move Forward With Purchase Offer For CBOT Exercise Rights

The Chicago Board Options Exchange today announced it will move forward with plans to purchase a number of CBOE exercise rights held by Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) Full Members. The planned purchase offer was temporarily postponed while the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reviewed a request by a CBOE member that the SEC reconsider its approval of CBOE's filing on the matter issued on February 25, 2005. On April 18, 2005, the SEC denied the request for reconsideration.

CBOE Sets Spider Options Trading Record; Friday's Volume Of 305,445 Contracts Is Busiest Single-Day

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that volume on Friday, April 15th, of 305,445 contracts in options on Standard and Poor's Depositary Receipts, known as Spiders, established a record high for volume at any exchange.Average daily volume in Spider options (options symbol SPY) at CBOE over the past 15 trading days has been 70,477 contracts.
