The Nasdaq Stock Market Educational Foundation, Inc. Donates Grant To NYU Stern’s Derivative Research Program

The NASDAQ Stock Market Educational Foundation, Inc. has awarded a three-year grant totaling $300,000 to the Derivatives Research Program, a leading program dedicated exclusively to the study of derivatives and risk management, at New York University’s Stern School of Business. The NASDAQ Foundation will support the program, now renamed The NASDAQ Derivatives Research Program in recognition of the grant, to more firmly establish it at the forefront of derivatives inquiry.

Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes effective after the close of business on Tuesday, August 16, 2005: The relative weight of Metro Inc. (TSX:MRU.SV.A) will increase by approximately 0.06% in the S&P/TSX Composite and Capped Composite, by 0.38% in the S&P/TSX MidCap and by 1.35% in the S&P/TSX Capped Consumer Staples Indices. Standard & Poor’s Announces Changes To U.S. Indices

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P 100 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices after the close of trading on Thursday, August 18: S&P REIT Composite constituent Public Storage Inc. (NYSE:PSA) will replace Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE:DAL) in the S&P 500. At the close of trading on August 15 Delta had a market capitalization of roughly $200 million, ranking 500th in the index. Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes in the S&P/ASX 50 Index effective after the close of trading Thursday August 18th 2005: Macquarie Infrastructure Group (Australia, SEDOL: 6456942, GICS Code: 20305020) a member of the S&P/ASX 50 Index will increase its shares to 2,182,484,115. SEC Charges Four Brokers And Day Trader In Fraudulent "Squawk Box" Scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged four brokers and a day trader with cheating investors through a fraudulent scheme that used squawk boxes to eavesdrop on the confidential order flow of major brokerages so they could "trade ahead" of large orders at better prices.

New York Stock Exchange Regulation today announced Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Incorporated (“Merrill Lynch”) has agreed to a $10 million fine and a censure to settle disciplinary actions taken for failure to deliver prospectuses and product descriptions to customers, as well as other supervisory and operational lapses.
