Nymex Sets Monthly Volume Records

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., today announced monthly volume records for August for Exchange-wide futures and options, futures, and options; NYMEX Division; NYMEX Division futures; NYMEX Division options; light, sweet crude oil futures; gasoline futures; and overall NYMEX miNYsm and NYMEX miNYsm crude oil and natural gas futures.

NYMEX Postpones Shareholder Meeting

Mitchell Steinhause, chairman of NYMEX Holdings, Inc., announced today that the general meeting for shareholders and members originally scheduled to be held on September 20, has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 29, at 3:30 PM, due to the scheduled launch of NYMEX Europe Limited in London on September 12.

August 2005 combined futures and options trading volumes at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) rose 32%, when compared with August 2004, with 3,169,170 contracts traded in August 2005, compared to 2,406,995 contracts in August 2004.

CME, the world's largest and most diversified financial exchange, today reported that for the first time in the exchange's history, trading volume exceeded 10 million contracts, with 10.7 million contracts* traded on Thursday, Sept. 1, a global record for a futures exchange. This exceeded the previous day's record volume of 9.97 million contracts.
