Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, November 1, 2005: Shore Gold Inc. (TSX:SGF) has acquired 100% of the shares of Kensington Resources Ltd. (TSXVN:KRT). As a result, Kensington Resources Ltd. will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index.

In an emergency federal court action filed today, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Lohmus Haavel & Viisemann (Lohmus), an Estonian financial services firm, and two of its employees, Oliver Peek and Kristjan Lepik, with conducting a fraudulent scheme involving the electronic theft and trading in advance of more than 360 confidential press releases issued by more than 200 U.S. public companies. OneChicago Reports 426% Increase In October Volume, Up 171% YTD

OneChicago, LLC today reported that 586,007 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in October, 426% higher than October 2004 volume. The average daily volume in October was 27,905. Year-to-date volume is up 171%. Open interest stood at 1,126,565 contracts on Oct. 31 after reaching a record 1,463,819 on Oct. 21.

October Was Busiest Month In CBOE History - Numerous Volume Records Set - 2005 Volume Has Already Surpassed 2004's Total

Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that October trading volume at CBOE was nearly 50 million contracts, up 49% over October 2004. Bolstered by six of the eight highest single trading days on record at CBOE, October was the busiest month in its 32-year history. Year-to-date, CBOE's volume of 384.6 million contracts traded has already surpassed 2004's total volume of 361.1 million contracts, which was the all-time annual volume record at CBOE.
