The Philadelphia Stock Exchange Announces January Volume - PHLX Posts Record Volume For Equity Options And World Currency Options - Gains Made In All Product Classes

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today that equity option volume in January nearly doubled when 53,023,914 contracts compared to the same year-ago period when 27,620,859 contracts traded. This represented a 91.97% increase. Equity option volume in January increased 32.49% compared to the previous month when 40,020,981 contracts traded.

On 3 Feb 2008, five percent of equity shares of Fanavran Petrochemical Co. has been floated in the Exchange through an initial public offering (IPO). This IPO exercise would be continued; another eleven percent of Fanavran stock is going to be offered by National Petrochemical Industries Co. in coming days.

EEX And Eurex Launch CER Futures

European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) and the derivatives exchange Eurex are expanding their cooperation in CO2 trading. As of 26 March 2008, it will be possible to trade in futures on CERs (Certified Emission Reductions), global emission credits in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol, on the EEX. To incentivise trading, trading fees (exchange trading and OTC-registry) will be waived for the entire year 2008.

Tokyo Financial Exchange: Rollover Of Leading Contract Month For Three-Month Euroyen Futures (Effective From 5 February 2008)

Electronic Equity Trading Up 85 Per Cent To Record Levels On London Stock Exchange And Borsa Italiana

New records were achieved in trading on the equity order books of Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange during January 2008. The average daily number of electronic equity trades carried out across the two exchanges increased 85 per cent on January last year to 1.3 million, while the average daily value traded grew 45 per cent to £15.3 billion (€20.5billion).
