Data Transfers To USA: European Parliament States Its Terms

Any new agreement on providing bank data to the United States - for example via the SWIFT system - must avoid "bulk data" transfers until they can be processed within the EU, warned MEPs on Wednesday. As for Passenger Name Records, Parliament opted to postpone its vote on the existing agreements with the United States and Australia and called for those accords be renegotiated on the basis of new criteria.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued an order filing and simultaneous settling charges against Noble Americas Corp. (Noble Americas) for entering into commodity futures trades and exchange for physical (EFP) trades in heating oil and gasoline on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and Globex that were wash and fictitious sales on several occasions during the period of March 30, 2007, through July 30, 2007.
