Indian VC Investments Nosedive By 70.4% YoY To $5.5 Billion During Q1-Q3 2023, Reveals GlobalData

Indian venture capital (VC) funding landscape has been experiencing subdued activity both in terms of deal volume and volume in 2023. A total of 811 VC funding deals worth $5.5 billion were announced in the country during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023. This represents a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 42.3% in terms of VC funding deals volume and a massive 70.4% in term of disclosed funding value, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

This is reflected in more than 11 times growth in assets under management to RM906.5 billion in 2022 from RM79.8 billion in 2003.

A total of 2,417 venture capital (VC) funding deals were announced in China during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2023 while the disclosed funding value of these deals stood at $32.2 billion. Meanwhile, both deal volume and value witnessed decline during Q1-Q3 2022 compared to Q1-Q3 2022, finds GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

SEC Obtains Emergency Relief To Halt Nearly $130 Million Fraud Targeting Indian American Community

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it obtained a temporary restraining order, asset freeze, and other emergency relief to halt an ongoing fraud targeting the Indian American community that has raised nearly $130 million since April 2021. The fraud is allegedly being conducted by Nanban Ventures LLC, its three founders Gopala Krishnan (aka GK), Manivannan Shanmugam, and Sakthivel Palani Gounder (collectively, Founders), and three other entities that the Founders control.
