NASDAQ OMX And The Egyptian Exchange Extend Technology Agreement

The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc (Nasdaq:NDAQ) and the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) have entered an agreement that extends their relationship for a further five years. Under the terms of the agreement, NASDAQ OMX will continue to support the EGX trading platform, powered by NASDAQ OMX technology, which started operating in November of 2008.

The notional dollar amount traded on the over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives market is growing at a remarkable rate. According to the Bank for International Settlements, total amounts outstanding of OTC derivatives have reached more than US$700 trillion at the end of Q2 2011. And the interest rate swap segment represents almost 65% of the total notional amount outstanding of OTC derivatives.

ICE Announces Brent Crude Option Open Interest Of One Million Contracts And Daily Trading Volume Record

IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of global regulated futures exchanges, clearing houses and over-the-counter (OTC) markets, today reported that open interest in ICE Brent Crude options on futures crossed one million contracts for the first time, closing at 1,004,699 contracts on May 1. The contract also established a daily volume record of 63,494 on May 2, surpassing the fifty thousand contract milestone for the first time ever. The previous daily volume record for Brent options of 48,644 contracts was set on April 3, 2012.

Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) Begins User Testing On Foreign Exchange Repository

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) began user testing of its new Global Trade Repository service for Foreign Exchange on May 1 and is planning full production by the fourth quarter, including regulatory and public reporting. The repository is the last of five planned global repositories for OTC derivatives being developed and operated by DTCC.
