EEX Launches Trading In Guarantees Of Origin

Today, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) successfully launched trading in Guarantees of Origin for Green Power (GoOs). The first trade has been concluded by Danske Commodities A/S and Steweag-Steg GmbH (a Energie Steiermark company) for the Nordic Hydro product for delivery in December 2014 comprising a volume of 5,000 GoOs at a price of EUR 0.200 per certificate.

HKFE Announces Margin Rates For Adjusted Hong Kong & China Gas Futures

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Friday, 7 June 2013, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The margins are based on the clearing company’s normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

Direct Edge® announces its disaster recovery facilities at the Equinix CH4 data center (CH4) in Chicago will be fully operational on the first trading day of September 2013 (September 3). The products and services of the EDGX Exchange (EDGX®) and EDGA Exchange (EDGX®) will be offered through CH4 in the event of a disruption that impacts the Direct Edge primary facility at the Equinix NY4 data center (NY4) in Secaucus, New Jersey. The implementation is being completed ahead of the timetable originally announced in August 2012.

HKEx Announces Market Makers And Margin Rates For A-share ETF Futures

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has obtained the Securities and Futures Commission’s approval to launch China AMC CSI 300 index ETF, CSOP FTSE China A50 ETF and iShares FTSE A50 China Index ETF futures on Monday, 10 June 2013. The underlying ETFs, or Exchange Traded Funds, are designed to track the performance of A shares. The futures will be HKEx’s first futures on A-share ETFs.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEx”) announces that Mr Martin Abbott (“Mr Abbott”) has tendered his resignation from the HKEx group in order to pursue other opportunities. Mr Abbott is currently the Co-head of Global Markets of HKEx as well as the Chief Executive of The London Metal Exchange (“LME”), an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of HKEx. Mr Abbott will remain in his current positions and will continue to be actively engaged in the business until the end of this year.
