SIFMA Statement on Regulators' Extension Of Basel III Effective Date

SIFMA today released the following statement from President and CEO Tim Ryan in response to the Federal Reserve, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) issuing a notice stating that the January 1, 2013 effective date of Basel III capital rules would be pushed back.

Thanks for the introduction. It’s great to be with you today at Rice. There are so many impressive things about this place; the faculty, the research, the bars. It’s hard to pick just one thing as a stand out. If I had to, however, I’d say the work with NASA and the space program is pretty neat. That’s what I’d choose as a very historic achievement.

The end-of-October short interest represents 4.20 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.42 days for the prior reporting period.
