Pakistan Mercantile Exchange BoD Appoints New Chairman

Shazad G Dada has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX). In its meeting held on December 5^th, the Board unanimously elected Shazad G Dada as the new Chairman along with welcoming all the new directors to the Board of the Exchange. SECP has appointed Shazad Dada, Muhammad Hanif Jakhura and Syed Ali Sultan as independent directors to the Board of PMEX.

I thank you for inviting me to today’s hearing on implementation of Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) swaps market reforms. I would like to thank Robert Cook from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). I’d also like to thank my friend, Chairman Mary Schapiro, who has been a terrific partner. Our agencies have consistently coordinated on this reform effort. I also want to thank my fellow Commissioners and the CFTC staff for their hard work and dedication.

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Adopts Pre-Closing Session Call Auction

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced its decision to implement a new mechanism to calculate the closing prices and its shift to a new free-float index.   This move comes in the continuous efforts of ADX to develop its operations in accordance with the best international standards applied in the field.  The new mechanism will go into effect starting 2013.

Thailand’s SET Index Closes Above 1,350 Points

The Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) main stock index (SET Index) closed up 13.24 points, or 0.99 percent, at 1,354.57 points today, a new high in the past 16 years and ten months since February 22, 1996, while other Asian main indices rose 0.5-0.8 percent.
